Helping your Charitable Organization Achieve Long-term Success

To educate boards, employees, and stakeholders of charitable organizations on the essential need of complex and deferred gifts.

What we do and why we do it!

There has never been a better time for charities and nonprofit organizations to pursue complex and deferred gifts from their closest supporters.  Why?  Because complex (noncash) assets represent an overwhelmingly significant part of the net worth of the wealthiest Americans and aging baby boomers hold the lion’s share of them.  However, over the past 20 years, many charities have reduced or de-emphasized their staffing, marketing, and efforts to encourage these gifts.

Don Laubacher and Mike Walczak have spent the majority of their careers securing complex and deferred gifts and are passionate about sharing their expertise with others.  The mission and purpose of NEO Planned Giving Consultants is to elevate the charity’s understanding of the importance of complex and deferred gifts, and how to pursue and obtain them.  We do this by developing and advancing a comprehensive planned giving program, including creating and reviewing marketing materials, developing a strategic marketing program, coaching individual staff or board members, and doing presentations.  Our presentations are interactive and engaging and are tailored for the fundraising staff, board of trustees, development committee, or key stakeholders. A selection of topics include:

  • There has Never Been a Better Time to Pursue Complex and Deferred Gifts
  • Planned Giving 101
  • Wills and Bequests – the Cornerstone of a Great PG Program
  • What PG Fundraisers Need to Know About Taxes
  • A Primer on Charitable Gift Annuities
  • A Primer on Charitable Remainder Trusts
  • Identifying Complex Gift Donors and Securing Gifts
  • The Basics of Estate Administration and Why it Matters
  • 15 Things Every Gift Planner Should Know

“Mike Walczak has trained the development and finance staff at Holden Forests & Gardens on many planned giving topics. He breaks the information down so it is understandable for non-planned giving professionals while making the classes entertaining and fun.” Debbie Miller – Vice President of Development at Holden Forests & Gardens
“Don has been my go-to person for speaking about planned giving to my fundraising class at B-W every semester for several years. He is knowledgeable and articulate and presents easy-to-understand examples of planned giving while informing my students about the importance of this method of fundraising.” Patricia G. Egan, MBA, CFRE – Principal of Beyond Fundraising and Instructor at Baldwin Wallace University
“Walking through the steps of creating a will and the estate administration process was a tremendous learning opportunity for our development and finance teams. My colleagues shared that the information provided by Mike Walczak gave them a new level of comfort with planned giving when speaking with donors. As a bonus, these sessions have helped streamline our gift administration process.” Karen J. Kannenberg – Principal Giving Director
“Don is one of the most professional, yet “easy” to learn from individuals I know. His presentation style, while informative and technical, is also very relatable. His ability to achieve learning objectives with the use of examples and real-world experience is exceptional. He makes learning enjoyable and most importantly, memorable. Don’s guidance to an organization will result in positive change and outcomes.” Diane M. Strachan, CFRE – Director of Planned Giving
